About Tomchei Foundation
Born from a Callingto Serve
In 1999, Rabbi Avraham Goldstein noticed something troubling: Jewish families in our community were quietly struggling — with food insecurity, with tuition they couldn't afford, with elderly parents who had no one to check on them. The need was real, but it was hidden behind closed doors.
He gathered a small group of dedicated community members and, with little more than conviction and a rented storage unit, launched Tomchei Foundation's first food pantry. Forty families were served that first month.
Twenty-five years later, Tomchei Foundation serves over 2,400 families annually through 12 programs — all rooted in the same founding principle: every Jewish family deserves to live with dignity, security, and connection to their heritage.

Our Journey
Tomchei Foundation established with a single food pantry serving 40 families.
Launched the Education Scholarship Fund, supporting 12 students in their first year.
Opened the Senior Services program, providing home visits and transportation.
Reached 500 families served annually; expanded to emergency financial assistance.
Achieved 501(c)3 Platinum Transparency rating. Surpassed 1,000 families served.

Rabbi Avraham Goldstein
Rabbi Goldstein founded Tomchei Foundation over 25 years ago after witnessing firsthand the gaps in support for Jewish families in our community. His vision of dignified, comprehensive care has guided the organization ever since.

With over 15 years in nonprofit leadership, Miriam oversees all programs and operations. Her dedication to efficiency and compassion ensures that every family receives the support they need with warmth and respect.
